Then We FIND the Eggs

The presentation of the baskets was a delightful experience.  Grace, having been introduced to the Easter Bunny last year, and one egg hunt under her belt, she awoke this morning with a level of excitement we haven't seen since Christmas.  As for Sam, although this was his first hunt, he immediately took to the core of the activity - Grab some EGGS!!

Candy!

At least one of us looks handsome AND drunk at the same time.

Jessie helped Grace with her egg hunting.

I helped Sam

Cleaver bunny...

Sam was slower than Grace, but due to her speed, Grace missed quite a few.
Here, Sam nabs one Grace zoomed right by.

Grace had the best expressions during the hunt.  She never stopped, however, to count how many she had, just giggled with delight every time she saw another egg.

Sam nabs the last egg.

They both wanted to know why there weren't more.

Happy Easter

First We Color the Eggs

Grace has been told that the Easter Bunny is coming to visit, but we had to make hm some eggs to hide.  We've been building up this activity for some time so she took to the dying of eggs with quite the level of enthusiasm.  I think she's really much more excited about the hiding/finding, but the coloring was more fun for her than I had expected - just as much fun as I remember.

Sam saying, "Hey, I want part of the action."
Grace having a hard time waiting for the eggs to hold their color.

There was quite a bit of vacillating over just exactly how dark the pink should be.

Grace quite pleased with her work.

Now to BEADAZZLE the eggs.  No - really.

Morning at the Museum

Mom's working so the rest of us went to the Children's Museum. Photos fresh from the iPhone. As Samuel is more mobile, it's easier to get both of the kids in the same photo, even if Sam is taking a shine to the camera lens. Looks like they had so much fun they couldn't make it home before nodding off for a nap. Yes, I am an awesome dad - sometimes.

Belly Busters

I just couldn't resist hangin' with the kids after a particularly messy dinner which required shirt removal for both of them. Anything for a good laugh I suppose.

Samuels Motor Boat

Sam loves this new trick.  Strangely though, possibly unfortunately, I think the star of the show is Grace and her incessant whining powering through the audio in the second half of the clip.

Seattle Day Trip

Scott's mother invited him and I to Seattle for lunch today, and boy was it a treat. We rarely venture up the 35 or so miles north and embrace all the city has to offer. The traffic and headache of parking is such a deterrent, and frankly, we have developed quit an affection for T-town, or Tacoma.

We had accumulated quite a list of award winning restaurants that we wanted to try and decided going up for lunch was a perfect idea. And perfect it turned out. Besides the cold and wet weather, we visited 3 great locations and found effortless, close, and free street parking each time. That NEVER happens. First, we stopped by Pike Place Market to pick up some favorite staples (and cute new hats for the kids which I could not resist) then we proceeded to The Whale Wins for a spectacular lunch. One of three restaurants by chef Renee Erickson. The mussels I had were the best ever! Last, we stopped at Salumi, a restaurant/deli that sells specialty cured meats and has been in operation for over a century by the Batali family. Yeah, as in Mario Batali. It's now run by his sister.  Then it was back home to pick up the kids from daycare before hitting any rush hour traffic. A trip this successful makes us want to do this more often!
